The Other Orlando.

My first order of business once we moved here was to discover places in Orlando that doesn't involve anything "theme park."  Design Sponge (best blog ever) did a lot of the work for me, but I think it's my duty as a "local" to discover the other Orlando.

Design Sponge - Orlando Guide

So far, my favorite place in Orlando is Lake Eola/Downtown.  In the center of the downtown buildings is a beautiful lake filled with swans and swan paddle boats.  On a clear day, there is nothing better than walking around the lake and people watching.  People go to the lake to feed the swans, use the paddle boats, run, walk their dogs, lounge in the grass, and take their kids to the playground.  The lake is also surrounded by lots of cute shops and restaurants and historic homes.

This Sunday, Philip and I checked out the Downtown Farmer's Market.   Every Sunday from 10am-4pm local farmers and artists gather and sell produce, arts, and crafts.  There is also an organic beer and wine garden!

I like how the Orlando Brewing sign says "Everyone comes to Orlando......Eventually."

Stay at Home Wendy.

In September, Philip (my husband) was offered an amazing job in Orlando, so I quit my job, we put our house on the market, we packed up our lives in Atlanta and moved.  Since I'm unemployed and we have no kids, Philip has lovingly started to refer to me as a "Stay at Home Wendy."  Life as a stay at home Wendy has been very enjoyable.   I have been spending my time exploring Orlando, working out, cooking, taking my dog on field trips, cheaply decorating our white walled apartment, and being an all around good housewife.  Everytime I talk to anyone, they always ask "what do you do all day?" and "don't you get bored?" So this blog is to answer the question of "what do you do all day?" and no, I don't ever get bored.
